Inter Milan are desperate for the best of the best managers in European football.
There have been rumours that the club is chasing Italian Antonio Conte. Conte recently lifted the Premier League title with Chelsea and it seems he would want to defend the title next season, despite claims of him being unsettled in England.
Reports in Italy say Inter have turned their focus to Spurs’ manager Mauricio Pochettino. The 45-year old Argentine has been impressive at White Hart Lane. He has gotten a youthful side, with a decent budget, that have been serious contenders for the Premier League for two years now.
There are reports that Pochettino has a buy-out clause in his contract of £4.2 million. Inter want to offer him £8.5 million per year if he agrees to the move.
The manager has insisted that he remains focused on achieving something with Spurs. He has avoided being drawn on various speculations over his future. He is set to remain with the London club until 2021. He agreed new terms last year.
Inter, backed by new money, want to overhaul the club. They sacked Coach Stefano Pioli last week after a run of five losses in six matches. The club is also interested in Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone.
Simeone has done a lot for the Madrid-based side since his appointment in 2011. He has gotten the team to the semi-finals three years, making the final twice. It would be hard to lure him at the moment as he chases the Champions League title to seal his legacy at the club, having previously broken Barcelona-Real duopoly in the La Liga aside winning the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.
Pochettino would likely remain at Spurs as well to complete his projects. Inter might have to look elsewhere.
