Inter Milan have reached out to Real Madrid over the possibility of signing Luka Modric this summer. Reports in Italy claim the club met with the player’s agents, and surprisingly a move could be in the offing. The 32-year old is a starter for Madrid, and with Cristiano Ronaldo and former Coach Zinedine Zidane out, it might be too much too soon for Madrid to sanction Modric’s exit.
Modric, the 2018 World Cup standout player, played 43 times last season, helping them win their third straight Champions League title. Inter Milan want him to solidify their midfield. The Serie A side want the Croatian to follow the route of Ronaldo and move to Italy.
Coach Luciano Spalletti has also reportedly named Arturo Vidal of Bayern Munich if the Modric deal doesn’t happen. He wants a top player with experience to join the team ahead of their Champions League appearance for the first time in six years.
Modric has countrymen Ivan Perisic, SimeVrsaljko and Marcelo Brozovic plying their trade at Inter already. However, it would be difficult for Madrid to agree to such a move now.
As Inter plot for a midfielder, Chelsea are plotting to take one from them. Chelsea have been linked to MatiasVecino but would have to offer over £30 million for the Uruguayan. Maurizio Sarri has worked with the player in the past, and is keen on a reunion at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho has joined but Sarri is looking for another to play in that midfield. Ron Green is another keeper that joined in a free transfer but Sarri could yet sign another before the close of the window.
