PLAYER RATINGS AS INTER SEAL SCINTILLATING COMEBACK WIN ON SUNDAY

After a woeful performance in the first half against Torino in what was looking like a game to be lost, Inter Milan made a solid comeback against their Serie A rivals to come back from two goals behind and secure a remarkable 4-2 victory.

Torino took the lead in the first half, finally finding the back of the net after numerous counterattacks against Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan. One would think the former Chelsea boss would make changes to the team he started in the match in the hunt for a positive result in the encounter, but he stuck with his eleven.

Things were continuing to look bleak for Conte and his men after VAR awarded a penalty to Torino for Ansaldi to convert and give the away team a 2-0 lead. Any team trailing by two goals in a match would have their morale affected, and it takes remarkable zeal and determination to turn things around in such a case.

It was the same zeal and determination – in just the right amount and proportion – that Conte’s men banked on and it worked out well for them just fine. The home side scored two goals in three minutes and didn’t look back from there. They instead built on their momentum till they eventually secured an enthralling win and a 6-goal thriller.

Here are the ratings:

Samir Handanovic – 5.5: The goalkeeper managed to make some saves but ended up conceding two goals.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 5: The Defender struggled to contain Torino’s attack and should have been subbed off at the break.

Andrea Ranocchia – 5: Also performed below par and had a lot of trouble trying to contain Zaza.

Alessandro Bastoni – 5.5: Also had issues against Zaza. He lost concentration and it led to a Torino goal.

Achraf Hakimi – 5.5: Didn’t perform up to his standards.

NicoloBarella – 6: Despite coming off the international break tired, he put in a decent performance.

Arturo Vidal – 6:After playing at central midfield for some part of the game and it failed, he switched to defensive midfield and did a great job.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5: Lacked quality.

Ashley Young – 4.5: Performed slowly. Should not be starting.

Romelu Lukaku – 8: He looked rusty in the first half but put up a wonderful performance in the second. Got two goals and an assist too.

Alexis Sanchez: 7.5: Superb mental strength from the Chilean. Scored too.

Lautaro Martinez – 6.5: Lautaro is back in form!

Milan Skriniar – 7: Was subbed on later in the game and changed the tempo of the game.

Stefan de Vrij – 6.5: Brought balance and restored calmness to the defense.

Iván Perisic – 6.5: After coming on for Young, he put in a great performance.
